Takara Tomy teased a new collaboration between the Transformers toys and the popular anime franchise Evangelion at the Shizuoka Hobby Show 2025 on Wednesday. The crossover will be part of the toy maker’s Synergenex brand for collaborations, in celebration of Evangelion‘s 30th anniversary. The only peek of what’s to come is a silhouette of what appears to be the Transformers character Optimus Prime (Convoy) with the shoulder fins from the Evangelion Unit-01.

This is the second major collaboration between Transformers and Evangelion. The first collaboration took place in 2014 when Dengeki Hobby Magazine teased the high-end MP-10 Masterpiece Convoy figure in Evangelion Unit-01 colors, followed by smaller, deformed Q-Transformers toys.
Takara Tomy first announced the Synergenex line in August 2024. The initial slate of collaborations included Godzilla, Macross, Monster Hunter, The Amazing Spider-Man, and Zoids. Transformers has also collaborated with Naruto and announced a collaboration with Sonic the Hedgehog in late 2024.
